Just wanna go fast!

Goals?

I’ve still been deciding about some goals for 2010.  Goal number 1 is to run my first and second marathons which would lead to my second goal of completing the Iron man in the Grand Prix series.  Other small goals are to buy some land, make some money.  Get engaged????? haha.  Something that I’m still debating on is what I can do to help somebody else.  I want to do something for someone less fortunate than myself.  God has given me everything that I need and more, so in return I want to help someone else out.  Any Ideas?

While I was out….

A lot of things have happened since December 2nd when I last posted.  I swore off running till new years to recover from all my aches and pains brought on by this awesome sport I picked back up in 2009.  I finished nursing school and got a job in the Emergency Room at the Local hospital where I live.  And finally I’ve gotten to spend time with family and friends that I have put off forever while trying to finish said nursing program.  Later I will post some goals for 2010 when I have time to think of some outlandish ideas to accomplish in the upcoming year.

I’m DONE!

I took my final nursing test today!

Now all I have to do is walk at graduation and some other non sense stuff and I can start to work.  It looks like I will be staying put and becoming an Emergency Room Nurse.  Kinda crazy to be done.

Finally Finished

I am thankful for one more thing this Thanksgiving.  Finishing the Grand Prix series!  I had my last 10k of the year in Stuttgart AR and it was terrible.  I made the first 4 miles in good time considering I have only run a few times since the half marathon forever ago. After mile 4 I was done.  My knee was hurting so bad I prolly walked the at least 1 mile out of the last 2.  BAD day.  I ended the day wandering the duck capital of the world with my lady and we had a nice lunch and I proceeded to sleep until the Arkansas vs lsu game.  Good game but ended up AR 30 LSU 33.  More to come on this awesome year of running at a later time.

I’m thankful for the good Lord dying on the cross for my sins.  I mess up a ton and he is always there through everything to show me the way.  Hope all of you folks have a great day and a happy thanksgiving.

2 Races Left

There are only 2 races left this RRCA season and looking back it’s kind of crazy to think of where I was in February.  I ran my first 5k in 24 almost 25 min at the end of Feb and just 2 weekends ago I ran my first ever Half Marathon in 1 hour 49 min.  After these next 2 races (10k’s) myself and my running buddy Jared (nick cage) are looking at running the LR marathon.  March 7th is the date…

I have one more week before real training for the marathon begins, so this week will be a test to see if I am fully healed from the foot ordeal and the half marathon.  I was planning on running an easy 3 miles but I got lost and ended up running almost right at 4 miles at a 8:45 per mile pace.  Good start a little pain and ready to get this underway.

Soaring Wings Half Marathon

AWESOME

Only way to describe the feeling of completing this race in such a good time.  I took off really well and ran the first 4 miles in 30 min, about mile 8 I noticed my ankle brace rubbing really bad but I kept on going.  Miles 9-11 were the hardest, I felt as if I was running about 10:30 min miles and I was getting really tight.  Jared caught up to me at Mile 10 and that helped me to push it a little bit and at Mile 12 it was gung ho to the finish.  A great time with great people for an awesome cause.  I will surely be aching tomorrow, but it’s been worth it.

Motivation…

I think going into the Soaring Wings Half Marathon this week I am setting a goal to just have fun.  I haven’t been running at all since I raced in Fayettville this past week, so I don’t see a huge PR coming this weekend.  I do have a huge piece of motivation at the moment that may push me to go all out this weekend…. we will just have to wait and see.
